As the official representation of the Republic of Kenya in the United Republic of Tanzania, Kenya High Commission, Dar es salaam, United Republic of Tanzania deals with all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Kenyan interests in the areas of political, economic and financial affairs, legal arrangements, science, education and culture.

The High Commission supports cooperation between Kenya and Tanzania.  Bilateral meetings organised by the High Commission help to strengthen relations between Kenya and the United Republic of Tanzania. The High Commission monitors developments and changes in Tanzania’s economic, financial and foreign trade policy and keeps track of relevant regulations and legislation. It supports and protects Kenyan economic and financial interests, promoting Kenyan economy in Tanzania and Zanzibar,  Kenyan exports and tourism.

The high Commission establishes contacts with Kenyans and provides them with general information concerning Tanzania.

The High Commission fosters collaboration in the areas of science, technology and education with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in terms of research and innovation. It promotes the exchange of ideas between scientific institutions and universities. It also supports Kenyan students in Tanzania.

In terms of culture, the High Commission aims to promote mutual understanding in its work to implement Kenyan cultural policy. It strengthens contacts with – and between – relevant cultural institutions in Kenya and Tanzania, and also with artists, for example supporting Kenyan artists who would like to show their work abroad. Events organised or supported by the High Commission highlight Kenya’s commitment to culture and help build bridges between different cultures.
